The Hotel Belmont was built in the 1940s. It has an Art Moderne design and was built higher for better views of Dallas.

The Bar Belmont is a retro hotel bar in the historic Belmont Hotel west of downtown Dallas. Aside from use by hotel guests, the bar is mainly a weekend drinking spot for locals and to hang out in a relaxed setting. The bar has a trendy feel, unpretentious nature and offers good views of downtown Dallas.
The bar is small and is located in a fairly cramped room so navigating to get drinks is a hassle when there is a crowd. A larger room next door has a number of couches and tables that are partitioned well to afford some privacy. The modest room decorations are artsy and stylish. When this room is crowded the sound acoustics make having a conversation at a normal volume difficult. The prime seating area is on the terrace, which usually has enough tables to accommodate everyone. The volume outside is low enough to be able to chat, though smoking is permitted which can be a drag, no pun intended.
Drinks were at best mediocre. Alcohol portions were modest and the drink styles were not especially creative. The Belmontini, a vodka drink with cranberry juice had a reasonably good taste but the serving was small. A Jim Beam whiskey infusion cocktail was good mainly because of the taste of fine bourbon, though the alcohol portion was skimpy for the price. Mixed drinks here cost about $10. The Bar Belmont is an average bar overall. On the plus side it has a cool vibe, a laidback nature and provides fine views of downtown Dallas. Negatives include drink quality and variety, lack of space inside when it’s crowded and a fairly isolated location. There is usually live music on Friday nights for a few hours. The music varies by artist but is typically indie rock or country in theme. Parking is free except for Friday and Saturday night when there is a $5 valet.
