The Sundown at Granada is a neighborhood bar and restaurant in the Lower Greenville area of Dallas. It is next to the Granada Theatre, a historic theatre and live music venue. Sundown is a popular bar and restaurant and can get crowded on weekends. It’s close enough to the Greenville bar scene to be an easy drive, but also has a distinctive style with a casual vibe, quality music from local bands and good food.

Sundown has gone through several name changes over the years and changes in ownership and focus. It often gets busy as a pre- or post-concert hangout for the Granada Theatre and as a weekend watering hole. Sundown has distinct sections so there is enough space to move around and not feel too crowded. While the main bar area can be congested, there is more room on the terrace and the upstairs patio, which has comfortable seating and a small movie screen. The bar upstairs is usually closed, but the whole space including the bar can be rented out for private events.

The Sundown is a place that will appeal to most people but at different times and days. If you enjoy good food and imaginative dishes, and like a casual quieter atmosphere, it’s a decent dinner option on Monday or Tuesday nights. The Buddha burger and Machu Picchu salad are crowd favorites. Also the albino brownie is a tasty follow-up dessert. If you prefer a hip bar with pricey but well-made drinks and are OK with crowds, Sundown is a happening weekend spot. The Jefferson Airplane is a tasty drink and there are good Texas brews on tap. Happy hour is from 4-7. Sunday afternoons appeal to those who want to spend a few hours vegging on the terrace and hanging with friends. Next time you are in Greenville, take a look at this place. You may just get hooked and become a regular.
