Landon Winery is a north Texas winery and wine shop with a location in McKinney and a shop/restaurant in Greenville, Texas. Landon produces its own wines from vineyards in west Texas. The McKinney location is primarily a wine tasting shop and bar.

Tastings at McKinney are offered for a nominal fee and are available on a walkup basis or can be arranged for larger groups by reservation. For an extra fee, a winemaker can present to groups. Food is limited to cheese and fruit boards. Some of the better tasting wines include the Super Texan (a blend) and the Merlot. Landon also serves a frozen Wine-A-Rita red wine and lemon drink. It really hits the spot on a hot day and is a great drink to enjoy on the patio.

Landon sells standard wine bottles and also offers bottles with personalized labels. Wine classes are periodically held. The website lists special events, such as dinner and wine events with local restaurants. If you are more adventurous and don’t mind parting with serious coin, you can make your own wine, including selecting the vintage or flavor, receiving updates as it ferments and participating in the bottling.

If you want to try some local wines or are just looking for a relaxing place to unwind, Landon is a reasonable choice. The drink selection is limited but the wines are generally good. Like most of the shops in the Square, it is casual and welcoming. Live music is common on the weekends. Service was personable and professional. The shop also attracts a number of repeat and outgoing customers who will readily share their views on wine. Overall, it’s a decent choice for a pre-dinner drink, but if you prefer a greater selection of drink options, you may want to choose another watering hole.
