India Palace is one of the oldest and best Indian restaurants in Dallas. It was established in 1985. The atmosphere, style and food are fancier than casual dining but not quite at the level of fine dining for dinner. The restaurant has a full bar which offers mixed drinks. Lunch service is buffet style or from the menu during the week and on weekends.

India Palace is located in a large shopping center just south of Interstate 635 and off Preston Road. There is ample free parking. The main dining room is large enough to accommodate a variety of tables with room to spare and is quiet enough to have a meaningful conversation. The kitchen in the back has a large window which offers views of the tandoori oven. There also is a small bar area and a more private dining section used for private events and lunch service.

Dinner included lentil soup, which had a distinctive, slightly smoky taste; however the serving was small. The vegetable samosa was overly crunchy but the two types of dipping sauce were savory. The chicken tikka madras entree was super spicy by request and hot enough to set off fire alarms. Both the chicken and a side order of rice were perfectly cooked. The garlic naan bread was average but the palace naan bread with nuts and raisins was modestly sweet and quite tasty. Dessert was split between a serving of mango custard and a pastry ball with honey. While both of the desserts were good, the portions again were fairly small, a minor negative. As for service, the waiter was pleasant, professional and offered useful food recommendations. Actions speak louder than words as they say and going back to the same restaurant on multiple occasions is a strong vote of confidence. India Palace has never disappointed either for dinner or lunch.

Love India Palace. Some of the best northern Indian food in the DFW area!
