The InterContinental Buckhead is one of the better full-service hotels in Atlanta. Built in 2004, the hotel has 22 floors, 422 guest rooms and 9 meeting rooms. Located in the heart of Buckhead, the InterContinental fronts Peachtree Street, which is the major north/south road in Atlanta.

The InterContinental’s amenities include a gym, spa, year-round outdoor heated pool, 24 hour room service and a 24 hour French fusion restaurant. The hotel bar features live jazz music Thursday-Saturday. The lobby and main floor is modern and elegant. It opens to an outdoor courtyard, which is a relaxing place to unwind. The hotel is nonsmoking but smoking is permitted outside. A complimentary shuttle is available within a 2 mile radius of the hotel, and this covers many of the shops, restaurants and clubs in Buckhead.

The room was quiet, clean and comfortable, except for the bed, which sagged excessively. The bathroom has a separate shower and a garden tub. A couple of nice extras included a free newspaper upon request and a candy on the pillow. Service at the hotel was consistently good, and the staff was helpful in answering questions and responding to requests. Standard room prices vary but generally range from $150-300 per night. For about $100 the hotel offers a club level service that includes continental breakfast, drinks, appetizers and Internet access. Pets up to 25 pounds are permitted but will incur an extra charge. The InterContinental was a pleasant place to stay. If you are looking for a full-service hotel in Buckhead, it is a high quality choice. Note that if you are sensitive to street noise, request a higher floor room facing away from Peachtree Street.
