Courtyard Key Largo is an economy style hotel with 88 rooms and 3 suites and 3 floors. The hotel was previously a Ramada and was built in 1978. It became a Marriott Courtyard in 2010. Dogs under 30 pounds are accepted here for a nonrefundable $50 fee. As with other Marriott hotels, the courtyard is nonsmoking. A room costs $160-190. Rooms facing the pool and marina are more expensive than those facing the street. Parking is free.

The hotel has two primary wings, and the building has a "V" type shape. Behind the hotel and between the wings are an outdoor heated pool and a whirlpool. There is a medium size workout room and a relatively spacious lobby too. All the rooms have balconies, but unless you face the pool and marina there is not much to look at. The rooms also have a small fridge, but not a microwave. A microwave is in the lobby though and so are some guest computers. As of 2015, the restaurant/bistro only served breakfast. A restaurant in the Holiday Inn next door serves dinner. There is an American food restaurant called the Key Largo Conch House about a quarter mile away and a Wendy's across the street. Key Largo is popular for water-based activities such as diving, snorkeling and sailing. There are also glass bottom boat tours at the nearby John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park.

It was a late arrival to the hotel after a few hours drive. Choosing to stay here was more of a convenient place to crash for the night rather than a planned vacation destination. It is the type of hotel that probably attracts longer-term stays though because of the general popularity of Key Largo as a south Florida getaway. There were some problems with the initial room, such as dirt in the shower and a latch that did not work properly on the balcony door. The front desk clerk was apologetic about the room issues and offered a free breakfast coupon in exchange, which was a nice gesture. The service provided was generally good, but the room quality was only fair. The second room was better than the first and thankfully had a clean shower. However, it was musty smelling which can be an issue at older hotels. On the plus side, the bed was reasonably comfortable, and both the AC and the bathroom controls worked properly. The rooms also were slightly oversized. Some noises could be heard in the hallway, but they were not excessive. The hotel had a security guard on the premises that night, but not sure if there are any security issues here. The stay was about average, and shelling out $180 for an average stay is questionable. While Key Largo hotel prices are high, if you are coming here for a vacation rather than a one-night stay, it's worth paying up to enjoy better accommodations.
