Four Points by Sheraton is an airport hotel located about 2 miles from the Los Angeles Airport. It has 567 rooms and around 20 suites. The hotel has different wings that were built in the 1960s and 1970s. The wings are between 7 and 9 stories tall. Room rates tend to range between $110-210. Parking is an extra $19 for self parking and $27 for valet. The hotel accepts dogs up to 40 pounds for a $35 fee per day. It’s a non-smoking property.

There is a traditional restaurant with breakfast and dinner service. A bar section serves drinks and also has meal service for lunch and dinner. There is a heated outdoor pool and a workout room. Some guest computers are available but have fees for computer time and for printing documents other than boarding passes. Room service is available 24 hours as is a courtesy shuttle to the airport. There is little of interest in the immediate neighborhood. It’s mostly airport hotels, car rental places and commercial buildings.

This was a hotel of last resort because everything else in the area was sold out well after midnight. So, it was the Sheraton or the car. The check-in process was OK, nothing great or terrible. The hotel was surprisingly busy for such a late hour. Only basic rooms in the traditional (read older) wing were available. It seemed like the hallway outside the room had once been an exterior corridor. The room door closed loud which caused the neighbors to come out and see what was up. Room noises from the people upstairs also could be heard. As for the room itself, it was dated but clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom area was tiny and with a very narrow shower. Additional towels were requested and were promptly delivered. AC worked OK as well. The real fun started in the morning when during the course of a shower, steam filled the room and set off a fire alarm. That caused hotel staff to bang on the door. One of them muttered about this happening a lot. They disconnected the fire alarm, but then started to try and fix it. So, they were advised to leave and fix it on their own time. At checkout, a request was made for a bill adjustment which was provided. Aside from the fire alarm fiasco, the Sheraton was not a disaster but it’s an older inelegant property with few amenities in an uninteresting area. It’s not the type of place you would seek to stay but rather is somewhere you wind up staying. As such, a stay here is not recommended.
