Midnight Rodeo is a Country and Western bar in north Dallas. It's open only 4 days out of the week and is mainly a dance venue. The bar has a number of special events on different nights of the week such as dance lessons, free buffets and drink specials. The club has a cover charge on some nights, but it's sometimes waived for ladies or can be avoided by coming early.
Midnight Rodeo opened in 2013 and is in a suburban commercial area. It's a large club has a large dance floor with an oval shape that resembles a track and facilitates dancing on the run. A bar in the middle of the dance floor is just one of several bars here. The bathroom was clean, but there were no paper towels in lieu of those stupid hot air blowers. Also, a bathroom attendant showed up later that night. It's never clear if you are supposed to tip these guys simply to wash your hands; either way it's more of an annoyance than a convenience.
The music was plenty loud. There was a blend of country and pop, including songs by Michael Jackson, The Georgia Satellites, Luke Bryan and KC & The Sunshine Band. The demographic skewed older. There were a few people in their 20s-30s but more of them were in their 50s-60s. A couple of hot bartenders made ordering drinks more pleasant, and after trying a few beers, a martini beckoned. It had a good slug of vodka, some lime juice and a bit of cranberry juice by request. The bartender tasted it with a straw to check its flavor before serving it. She said the most popular drinks here were anything with whiskey or bourbon. Midnight Rodeo has a free buffet on Fridays. A lady rated her food a lofty 9/10, which seemed overly generous. She scored her margarita a 9/10 as well. Not really being into country music or dancing makes this place hard to evaluate. Many people seemed happy and were dancing enthusiastically around the racetrack/dance floor. The drink was not bad, and the service was fine. While it's not a great venue for relaxing, Midnight Rodeo can work for those who favor line dancing in a loud setting. The bar's website lists special events and also may offer discounts.
