This location has closed. India West by Ross Duggal is a traditional Indian restaurant, and the menu features many classic dishes, such as chaat and samosas and naan bread. Representative entrees include chicken tikka masala, lamb vindaloo, and tandoor oven selections. There are also plenty of rice and vegetable options. A buffet is available at lunch, and with regular table service for dinner. The restaurant also has a full bar and serves mixed drinks.

India West opened in Addison about 5 years ago. It follows in the footsteps of sister restaurant Kebab-N-Kurry, which has been in Richardson for over 20 years. India West has a better location though and more upscale style. Furniture is in good condition, and the decor is hip.

The restaurant was about half full for lunch on a weekday. The booth was comfortable and was quiet enough to chat at a regular tone. Drinks were served promptly. The buffet was smaller than those at Wild Chutneys and Flavors (both of which are reviewed on this site). But what it lacked in size and selections it made up for in taste and quality. Both the roasted tomato soup and lentil soup were appetizing and not too spicy. The lentil was spicy enough though to leave a residual delectable bean flavor in your mouth. While the salad and cold vegetable selections were a bit paltry, there were about half a dozen fresh and savory Indian sauces. They worked well with the soft and tasty chicken tikka masala, as well as on the rice and as a complement to the naan bread. The manager recommended the vegetable malai kofta, and it really resonated with an almond type sauce and just a hint of spice.

Service was very strong here, polite and attentive. The manager inquired about the meal quality, which was a nice gesture. Also, a sign out front advises that screaming children are not extended a red carpet, a huge plus if you want to relax while you eat. Another positive is that the restaurant was very clean, including the bathroom. Good food and quality service combined to make for an enjoyable lunch. This is a solid choice for tasty Indian food in a convenient location, and a return visit is likely.
