TC Choy's Asian Bistro is a higher end restaurant in the hip Soho neighborhood. TC opened in 2000 and has one location. Chinese food is the main fare but in keeping with its Asian Bistro name, TC also serves Japanese cuisine (including a sushi bar), as well as Malaysian and Thai food. The restaurant touts over 100 dishes and 70 dim sum items. Unlike many bars and restaurants in the area, TC has its own parking lot and offers free parking.

The kitchen has an open style and is located behind a sushi bar which faces the main dining room. The tables have real tablecloths and are fairly close together. Noise levels in the dining room were reasonable on a Saturday night; it was easy to have a conversation at a regular volume. Smaller sides rooms are popular venues for private events. TC also has a full bar which is closer to the main entrance. Decorations are somewhat sparse but tasteful and have an Asian theme. There is a small seating area outdoors.

TC's big menu equaled many options. Of the hot and sour soup and chicken satay appetizers, the soup was much better. It had a spicy taste, thick texture and a decent mix of tofu and vegetables, overall very appetizing. The chicken satay had a slight lemon/turmeric taste but was too crisp and hard to chew to be enjoyable. The spicy eggplant though was a winner. It was served in a mini hot pot with vegetables and was quite tender. For those who like heat in their cuisine, the chili sauce here is strong enough to send the thermostat soaring. In fact, TC offers multiple custom sauces, which is a nice plus if you like to mix and match seasoning and dishes. An apple egg roll with green tea ice-cream was enjoyable as a follow-up. You can’t really go wrong with a warm apple and cold ice-cream combination. The portion was small though. Service was pleasant and attentive. Dinner here was solid, not great, but good enough to come back and try more selections. On Thursday nights there are specials on both dim sum and sake.
