Best time to visit
The Fairfield Inn & Suites Sarasota Lakewood Ranch is an economy type hotel built in 2002 and has 3 floors and 87 rooms. The hotel also has suites which are about 1/3 larger than standard rooms. All rooms have mini-fridges and some have microwave ovens. Room rates can range from $100-190. Suites cost about $30 more. The Fairfield Inn is a nonsmoking property and does not accept pets. It’s located very close to Interstate 75 and is in a clean, modern commercial area.
Hotel amenities include an outdoor heated pool and whirlpool. There also is a small exercise room and some guest computers. The lobby is reasonably spacious and comfortable. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered as well. As for the local neighborhood, there is a Chili's Restaurant across the parking lot and a shopping center with a large grocery store is a short walk away. Parking at the hotel is free, and there was an adequate amount of parking.
Checking in was a smooth process. The front desk clerk was courteous and accommodated a request for a room on a higher floor. He initially suggested a first floor room because the elevators were out of order, but two flights of steps offered an opportunity to get some exercise. The room was clean and in good order. A minor negative was a mosquito in the room, but it quickly ascended to mosquito heaven. Bathroom equipment worked well, no issues with the shower, toilet or sink. As for room noise, it was quiet inside the hotel but highway noise was occasionally audible. The air conditioning was a bit stuffy in the morning, but was not unduly so. An annoyance was that the housekeeper started cleaning the room in the morning before all the belongings had been removed. The Fairfield mostly delivered on providing a satisfying stay for reasonable value. Since the pros generally outweighed the cons, the Fairfield Inn would be worth a return visit, however it would not be a first choice among local hotels.
