There was plenty of parking at this hotel but not much in the way of landscaping or greenery.

The Holiday Inn Express at the Houston Medical Center is an economy-style hotel located southwest of downtown Houston. It was built in 2004 and includes 79 rooms and 56 suites. The suites are single rooms in style and similar to but slightly larger than the traditional rooms. The hotel offers smoking rooms but does not accept pets except for service animals.
The hotel has a traditional layout with one long building and three floors. The parking lot is larger than average and completely encircles the building. The hotel does not have a pool or whirlpool but there is a workout room and breakfast area. Also, the lobby is small but does include a modest sitting area.
There were some signs of wear and tear in the room. For example, the walls were a bit nicked and there were a few spots in the carpet. However, the room and bathroom were both clean and the bed was comfortable. Everything in the bathroom worked well. The air conditioning also performed well and was not excessively noisy. The room included a fridge and microwave, which was a nice bonus for a standard room. Exterior noises and hallway noises were reasonably quiet, though to be fair the hotel also was fairly empty. The front desk staff was polite but not especially outgoing. They were professional and businesslike. The immediate neighborhood was blue-collar in nature with a storage facility, pharmacy and fast food place all nearby. An upside is that the Holiday Inn is located within walking distance to Reliant Stadium, where the Texans football team plays so that could save money on parking for football games or other stadium events. The one-night stay here was satisfactory, but does not really stand out in either an especially good or bad way. It was acceptable but the hotel could benefit from a facelift. Prices tend to range from the $110-160, depending on the day of the week and time of year.
