Ocean View Inn & Suites is a three story economy hotel in Crescent City. The hotel has 65 rooms including a handful of suites. It opened in 2012 and is located between Highway 101 and a small bay on the Pacific Ocean. The hotel does not front the water but it's located within sight of the bay and ocean. While this is a newer property, the facilities are fairly basic and do not include a pool or workout room.

Ocean View is one of several hotels under common ownership in Crescent City. It’s the newest of the group and also one of the newest in town. Ocean View is situated far enough away from the highway so that traffic noise is not a major factor. The rooms on the back of the hotel only face a small frontage road. There is a small breakfast area in the lobby, and a “no frills” continental breakfast was offered. The parking lot out front has plenty of space.

The stay here was satisfactory without any major pluses or minuses. On the plus side, the front desk staff was pleasant and provided a high level of service. The bed was generally comfortable and the room was clean, including the bathroom. On the minus side, the room heater cranked out too much heat and did not turn off when a desired temperate was reached so it had to be manually shut off in the middle of the night. The view from the back of the hotel was nothing special, see pictures to the right. Also the toilet ran excessively after it was flushed which is surprising for a new hotel. The hotel decorations and style were a bit cheap looking but the model boat collection in the lobby was cool. There simply are not many options for a good hotel in Crescent City. So, given the alternatives, Ocean View is a reasonable choice, but it would not get high marks relative to comparable hotels in larger markets. Also note that hotels here frequently sell out in the summer so if you plan to stay in July or August it’s a good idea to make a reservation in advance.
