Wild Chutneys is an Indian restaurant located on Belt Line Road, aka "Restaurant Row." Chutneys has a different focus at different times: a buffet at lunch, table service at dinner and a nightclub at night. The food is generally fresh and of higher quality though some of the dishes are hit or miss.
Chutneys has one main room which has a curved shape around a bar/buffet area. The room is large enough for some privacy and the restaurant also was flexible as to choice of table and location. The atmosphere is quiet, so it’s easy to have a conversation at a normal tone. The staff were attentive and provided good table service. However, at times they were frankly too attentive and the frequent interruptions were moderately annoying. Also, the bathrooms could benefit from more frequent cleanings.
The soups really standout here, both at dinner and the lunch buffet. The carrot ginger and potato soup were delicious, served hot and good enough to order seconds. Portions even for a cup were generous. The vegetable samosa appetizer was average, not great or distinctively different, but filling. The veg biryani (rice and vegetables) had an interesting soufflé type appearance but tasted quite bland and there was a fruit pit in the dish. However the lamb chop was better. It was served sizzling hot like a Mexican Fajita; the vegetables were fresh and tasty and the meat was cooked well. If you like Indian style desserts, they are worth saving some room for here. The restaurant becomes a nightclub later at night so factor that into your plans if you like to eat late. Chutneys' food is better than average and the restaurant is worth a return visit. The buffet lunch is a better value option than for dinner, since the food is just as good, and it’s cheaper.
