The Cowboys Stadium Art Tour is a walking tour of 18 art pieces inside the stadium. The art ranges from enormous stadium wall paintings and large eclectic hanging metal sculptures to relatively modest portrait style art and photography.

The Jones family which operates the stadium and owns the Dallas Cowboys football team, commissioned the stadium art from a range of artists. The art is modern and somewhat minimalist in nature; much of it is site specific and themes often involve sports and the Cowboys. Better known artists include Olafur Eliasson, who created some popular waterfalls art in New York City, and Lawrence Weiner, who is known for abstract text art. In addition to the stadium art, the art tour offers views of (but not access to) the field, a brief visit to a private suite and access to some of the fancier club areas of the stadium.

The art is diverse and occasionally provocative but the tour is generally uninteresting and uninformative. The time spent at each piece is brief and observations tend to focus on obvious features and generic aspects rather than providing meaningful insight and understanding. The tour resembles a museum tour in nature but not in substance. Interpretive wall signs provide background on the art, but there is insufficient time to read them on the guided tour. Alternatively, the self-guided art tour offers plenty of time to see the art and read the signs. The self-guided tour also is less expensive at $16 and includes an audio device for art commentary and information.

Overall the art tour is too basic to hold much interest for a serious art connoisseur and the art is too abstract to appeal to a typical sports fan. The former would do better in a museum and the latter would have more interest in the stadium itself.
