Arcodoro & Pomodoro is an upscale lunch and dinner Italian restaurant located in a tony area of Dallas. The restaurant is hip, however the food was a bit pricey and portions were small. In addition to the main room, there is a separate bar area, private dining sections and terrace seating.
Pomodoro restaurant was opened in 1988 by Efisio Farris, an Italian who moved to Dallas from New York. A few years later, he opened Arcodoro next door to serve as a bar and to offer lighter fare. More recently the two establishments combined and moved to their current location at the Crescent Center. There also is a restaurant in Houston.
The fare is traditional Sardinian. Lunch and dinner menus are similar, but dinner has a wider range of meat dishes. The appetizers included a tomato cream soup du jour, which had a zesty enjoyable taste and is recommended. Also worth trying is the mozzarella pomodoro (caprese salad) mostly due to the savory imported buffalo mozzarella. The menu is heavy on meat and seafood dishes. While a vegetarian penne entrée was cooked to order, the portion was small, there were too few vegetables and the flavor was bland. The salmon arrostito entrée was good but not distinctively different. Tiramisu dessert was a highlight of the meal. The various dishes were visually appealing. Service was attentive but at times overly so for removing plates as soon as a course was completed. Also, the bill was presented before it was requested. This restaurant will appeal to those looking for a stylish venue and who will be content with good food but not an exceptional dining experience.
