Crème De La Crepe is a bistro type of restaurant which serves mostly French and mostly light dishes in a casual southern California atmosphere. Crepes are the main fare, and one can select from a dozen or so options on the dinner menu or build your own. For appetizers there are soups and cheese plates as well caprese and bruschetta dishes. There are also a number of salads and pasta options. Entrees are limited here but include beef, chicken and seafood. The restaurant has a breakfast, lunch and dinner service. Alcohol is limited to beer and wine.

There are currently 5 Crème De La Crepe locations, all of which are in the greater Los Angeles area. The Redondo Beach location is about 10 years old and is on a happening stretch of South Catalina Avenue which is packed with additional shops and restaurants. The immediate neighborhood was conducive to walking around as well, so even if Crème De La Crepe does not strike a chord, there are many other options you can explore. Also, there was plenty of free parking on a Saturday evening. The restaurant has a fairly small footprint but with an open style, at least in the summertime, and was comparable to eating on a terrace. Tables are arranged both in the dining room as well as the sidewalk in front. Reservations are accepted but are typically unnecessary. Background noise levels were low, and it was was easy to chat.

Dinner started with a tomato soup special, which had a rich and pleasing tomato taste, but the soup’s consistency was too thick, almost like tomato sauce. Also, the temperature could have been warmer. The farmer crepe was a reasonably good choice for an entree. It was loaded with veggies like spinach, avocado and tomatoes and had a satisfying omelet type of taste. Also, some walnuts sprinkled on top were tasty. Anyone with a sweet tooth will enjoy a dessert crepe here. It was a bonanza of delicious flavors such as chocolate, banana, whipped cream and vanilla ice-cream. But for the calories, it would have been a no-brainer to order a second. There were two servers and both were pleasant and attentive. Also, the welcome mat was not removed immediately after finishing; there was no pressure to leave. With generally good food and strong service, Crème De La Crepe was an enjoyable place to get dinner on a weekend night. It's a good venue for a date as well.
