Enjoyable yes, Excellent no The Celebrity Bahamas Cruise is a 4 night sailing that departs from Fort Lauderdale and has stops at Nassau and Key West, and also a day at sea. The cruise was on Celebrity Constellation, which was launched in 2002 and accommodates around 2,000 guests and 1,000 crew.

From a comfort, amenity and style perspective, the Constellation ranks somewhere between average and top of the line. It’s not the Ritz but neither is it Motel 6. There are a couple of large pools and a number of whirlpools, a casino, theatre, gym, and some shops. The ship also has half a dozen traditional restaurants and additional snack bars and dessert places. Two specialty restaurants had a steep extra fee of $40-45. The inside stateroom had a paltry 170 square feet of living space. It's enough when travelling solo, but would be challenging for two people.

This cruise was relatively short, one of those trips that seems like it’s over before it gets going. As for the positives, the room attendant, waiter, captain and staff were pleasant and helpful. The captain in particular gets high marks for being engaging and courteous. The ship was on time as were the meals and entertainment. Furnishings were up to date and comfortable. Celebrity permits guests to bring two bottles of wine, a big plus relative to paying high prices for alcohol on board. If you try to bring any other adult beverages, you do so at your own risk. The room included a mini fridge, a safe and a bathrobe. There was no shortage of hot water. Smoking is not permitted in the rooms. As for negatives, the biggest one was a slip in quality from prior trips. This was evident in room cleanliness such as with a hair in the toilet and some mold in the shower, and also in the quality of food which had less variety and more blandness. Entertainment also was subpar, no Cirque du Soleil type acts. The main band was very karaoke. After talking with passengers on other cruises at the airport, the entire industry may be cutting back, but whatever the reason, these shortcomings reflected poorly on Celebrity.

If you like to cruise, then shelling out $700-900 for two people to enjoy a few days of fun in the sun is money well spent unless the experience is really poor. This trip rated about average, good enough to merit a lukewarm recommendation but somewhat disappointing as well.
